Backing tracks for this session
First, we practice a four-beat rhythmic pattern using sixteenth notes and the handpan slap technique
Pay close attention to proper rhythm counting, accurate execution of slaps, and correct timing for quarter notes and sixteenth notes within the melodic structure of each beat. Begin practicing at a slower tempo to master note reading, hand placement, and the differences in attack intensity between the ding, side ding, and slap strokes, then gradually increase the speed as you gain control
Maintaining a consistent rhythm without slowing down or speeding up is essential. Background tracks included in this lesson are highly effective for helping you internalize timing, improve coordination, and stay aligned with the four-beat structure. This practice strengthens your handpan technique, dynamic control, and rhythmic accuracy, ensuring a solid foundation for advanced handpan performance
