Learning and Playing the Sixteenth Note
Each sixteenth note represents one quarter of a quarter note’s value—meaning that four sixteenth notes fit into the duration of a single quarter note, and two sixteenth notes equal one eighth note. Understanding this ratio and the time difference between quarter notes, eighth notes, and sixteenth notes is essential for building a solid foundation in handpan rhythm training
While quarter notes and eighth notes are counted in a relatively similar way during rhythm reading, sixteenth notes require a more detailed subdivision and a different counting method. This makes them a crucial step in advancing your rhythm reading skills.
