What Are the Note Names on a Handpan?
This is the sixth Music Theory session in the PlayPan course.
Since the handpan, like all other musical instruments, is constructed based on a sequence of notes, it is essential to learn the correct names of each note and commit them to memory. Understanding and memorizing note names allows you to read music accurately, play confidently, and develop your musical intuition.
In this session, we will explore techniques to identify, learn, and retain handpan note names effectively. You will understand the layout of the handpan scale, how each note relates to others, and how to connect note names to their positions on the instrument. These skills form the foundation for sight-reading, composing, and improvising on handpan.
