Backing tracks for this session
In this practice session, we build upon the rhythmic patterns learned in the previous lesson and the corresponding melodic line to create a fresh and innovative structure. By applying a new arrangement of the previous rhythm and melody, you will develop a deeper understanding of handpan (hang drum) composition and performance techniques
The rhythmic patterns performed in the ding and ding-side areas will now be applied directly onto the notes themselves. Pay close attention to hand positioning and placement on the handpan to ensure accuracy and comfort during execution. Proper note striking technique is essential for achieving clarity and consistency
Equally important is the counting of rhythms and accurate execution of ghost notes, which were introduced in earlier lessons. Practicing these ghost notes improves dynamic control, subtlety, and expressive performance on the handpan
Remember, mastering this exercise requires completion and practice of all previous lessons, as each builds progressively on the last. Consistent repetition and mindful practice will enhance your handpan playing skills, rhythmic precision, and musical creativity
